Chasing Rabbits
Chasing Rabbits
Most runners will know that feeling after some time out from training hard, when you start pushing again and everything seems to ache. My legs last week just went solid and for a few runs every time I landed my legs were throbbing and walking down stairs was a slow process. I did some drills for the first time this week and then next day I thought I had been shot in both bum cheeks! It's a good feeling, the feeling of pushing yourself again and the body getting used to the strain, I am ok now but still ache after tough sessions but after a few slight problems with groins and adductors I seem to be going ok.....well nearly, my hamstrings were like violin strings last night after some minute efforts.
I will be racing again this week again over 5k on the road. I have entered the AAA 10k but will have a coffee and chat with the coach in the week and decide whether it is a wise thing to do or not, if I can run a sub 15 on the weekend there will be a good chance I will do it but any thing over 15 and it will be a pointless trip just being blown out the back door after a couple of laps.
Steady runs have always been my favourite runs, I do of course enjoy the odd easy run and chat but ticking over not flat out but feeling like your moving is and always will be my favourite training runs. Monday I had two of them to do over 7 and 5 miles, early morning after a cup of tea I was out with the rabbits! I had to take a little de-tour when some bulls wouldn't move and then I was in the dunes...up...down...left...right just going through single track trails, then every couple of minutes a rabbit would shoot out right across my path! I can tell you that the only thing makes me jump more out in the dunes are when a pheasant flies off just before I run into it, shits me right up! The little rabbits shoot all over the place, one day I will catch one, like Rocky chases chickens I might start chasing Rabbits for speed...speeds what you need, greasy....fast....lightening speed!
Welcome of course to Jonny Mellor, I will be the first to read his training and seeing what the guy is doing. I like him as a guy and a runner and the fact he is a Liverpool fan doesn't hurt.

Great blog, thanks!
jake Posted on June 16th, 2010I was once out for a run and a little rabbit scared the shit out of me! It ran right across my path and unfortunately for him he ended up under my right foot.
Similar Experience Posted on June 16th, 2010I didnt put my full weight down on the little fella but it all happened so quickly and by the time i looked round he had scampered off into the undergrowth.
I still think of him a lot and i hope he was ok...
