Up hill struggle,
Sunday was very frustrating and annoying to be so far away from where I know I can run but I have become better over the last couple of years to not let it get me so down, don't get me wrong I don't like it at all but its pointless to carry it in to your life for days or weeks.
I made a conscious decision after the Bahrain relays to take a decent break (month) off after a tough year mentally for me, having put in so much effort through the year to then get it badly wrong and come away with nothing made it tough.
So on return I also decided to take time to build in to training as I seem to get fit really quick and go over the 'razors edge' by the time I want to be running well. So I am currently in a 2 week recovery phase after running over 100miles for a few weeks, which is handy as I have been ill, the next 3 weeks following this will hopefully bring me back to close to full fitness.
I don't have any race's of real importance for the rest of January but am looking forward to the south cross country. Not sure why as I don't like cross country (rubbish at it) but maybe because we might actually get a medal, maybe not gold, but some colour of medal and to meet up with the guys like Wicks, Pollard etc. will make it a bit more bearable.
On the upside I ran this morning for half hour and it's the first time in about 2 weeks that I haven't had to cough....the whole way, it felt great not to be on the verge of being sick when your trying to train or race!!
Simx
