Some Day I'll Be Saturday Night
Some day I'll be Saturday night, I'll be back on my feet and doing alright. It may not be tomorrow baby, but that's okay. I ain't going down, gonna find a way...hey hey hey!
Ah, it's all gone a bit wrong really. It feels like I haven't raced well for years right now but it was only 3 weeks ago I ran sub 30 and felt fine. Running and I am guessing most sports because of the unknowns can be very frustrating at times and right now is one of them. In fact I would go as far to say the whole flipping year has been, it's like I was playing catch up all year and never quite got on terms with it, as if it was running away from me. I have done a lot of training which will of course be in there...somewhere!
The worst bit about not running well is telling the people who really help, after a race you get a call or txt from someone who really care's and you have to tell them it was rubbish when they might help you financially, emotionally, or just small things like lifts to the track or try and help on training runs. Of course I put it on here and some might have a go and that is what the site is about, opinions in sport are what make radio talk shows or television programmes as everyone has different ideas. I never really have a problem with people who might question certain things as I don't know them so just doesn't really bother me but If Dad, Nick, Lee, Aaron, running mates, (loads more) ring to find out then its like a task telling them you stuffed it up again....believe me it happens a lot! Of course there are much more important things in life than the running but as an individual you know what you put in and I can only describe it as putting £50 in a bank account every week and going to take some out at Christmas and seeing you only have £100 in there!!
On to better things and the night after the race....I had heard from my old buddy Mr Speaight that it is a place to go at night so after we had eaten in the city, which they closed a section for us we rounded up the troops. At first everyone came back "I am too tired, I'm going to bed". Me and Matt Janes had other plans so divide and conquer he thought, we worked on individuals and before you know it a few girls said yes, then they forced the others and before you know it there was a group outing!
I wouldn't go as far to say the team spirit is as good as the Belgrave lads but as a new young team it was pretty good. I won't go into the whole night but let's just say everything that usually happens on a good night out happened...even the elusive Mr Wicks made an appearance! I think the difference between a really close team is shown at the airport when goodbyes are done. Yesterday once we landed everyone disappeared like ants without even a goodbye in some cases! I have seen tears when some of the Belgrave lads leave at Airports (you know the ones guys), or even just leaving a race. It is always man hugs when we depart and some even go continental with a little kiss (mainly me and sharpy though), Me and Matt and a little hug though and enjoyed what looks like my new room mate on welsh trips.

I can't believe he tried that one on you too Matt. Many i time i have been enjoying a relaxing shower when Mr Jones has slipped in behind the shower curtain.
Neil Spaeight Posted on September 16th, 2009I cant wait for the relays to come round - but im not sharing a room with you Jonesy, and i will be locking the bathroom door from now on.
Bloody welsh...
I would like to confirm that i did not kiss Mr Jones at the airport. He practically jumped me whilst i was getting my bag off the travelator.
Matt Janes Posted on September 15th, 2009Great trip but in future Mr Jones when i say no i mean no. Just because we are in a romantic city doesnt mean you can join me in the shower for a cuddle.
See you at the relays.
