Weekend Away
Good morning,
So I suppose my first week with a coach again and training for first time living on my own. It wasn't a rocket science week as there's not much you can do first week back if you have a race on the weekend so I did some steady running and a couple of 'sessions' but only some minute and two minute efforts on 8 mile runs Tuesday and Thursday, but in all honesty with a cold dragging its heels until Thursday they were both rubbish runs and bloody hard work!
It was great to catch up with Sp8y again as we roomed before the relays on Saturday night, I have a lot of time for the big guy who has helped me a lot and haven't really spoken since he moved abroad. He even let me gain nectar points from his meal the night before! Unfortunately Moralee pulled out so never got to catch up with him and Dan Mulhare didn't get there until 11.30pm. Watching Liverpool hump hull before bed was a highlight.....6-1!!
Morning of the race we went for a little run and sp8y is still limping for the first 5minutes like an old man. Then we woke up Dan on the way back which took 10minutes to open the door as he bolted the door like he was back in Ireland during the bad times. Breakfast is always a pleasure when it is a buffet but with out pollard stealing any food that isn't nailed down it wasn't quite the same and I didn't get my filling of apple juice to be fair.
We all then went in convoy with Alan (team manager leading the way), Sp8y in the Skoda 'roomster' second in line and me following. Due to sp8y having to go straight to the airport after his run we went a certain way which involved about a thousand roundabouts and of course I lost the train a couple of times! We all get there alright though. I like to do a bit of a cruise and catch up with mates before I focus on my own race so went for a walk and a few 'chats' then did my own thing. (See race report).
I think the south relays is a class and competitive race which is probably harder to win than some national relays (Wales for example) and probably the hardest of the regional relays with Belgrave, Newham, Aldershot, Bedford, Windsor etc., Fielding quality athletes. The weather was great and The RunnersLife guys all picked up medals!

hehe, your very pasionate about simon Lawson!! is it a secret crush, is that why your hiding your name.
simx Posted on October 4th, 2009He (lawson) is very talented and at his age I was no where near the times he was running, good luck to him. I aint going to roll over though and maybe you should get out and train yourself rather than having a go using someone else or I could just say 'Bekele will destroy you' hehe.

Thats the spirit- true grit and never give up - look upon it as a challenge that you will conquer!
mentor Posted on September 30th, 2009haha, everyone seems to be talking about Saucony (which is good) here most of the time. Luckily they have been great and as runners they understand runners having bad times.

Hey Simon. Sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth. I'm sure things will pick up and you'll come good very soon ;)
