Tough week

So back into training now which will be 6weeks with one week recovery in them middle.

Monday I was out in the dark at 6.45am hitting out the morning steady run of 4miles sub 6minute per mile around a mile easy each side. I felt good and didn't feel like I was going to slow down at any point even at that early hour. At night after going to work for the day (9.30am-5.30pm) I ran another hard steady run consisting of: 1mile easy / 1mile steady / 1mile hard x3, the easy mile was 7minutes, then 6minutes for the steady and 5minutes for the hard which by the last one was pretty dam hard. It was a good start to the week though so went to sleep happy.

By Tuesday I was down the track back to the session which I did around 4 weeks ago of 9x300m, back then I averaged 51seconds whereas this time around it was 46seconds with the added bonus of being all alone to being joined by Chris Higgs last time. Wednesday which is usually where it starts to bite on a tough week consisted of the steady morning run followed by 1hour 25minutes in the night but threw in blocks of 10minutes at sub 6minute mile pace, by the end of a long and wet night running I was more than ready for bed!!

On Thursday I was chilling in the morning with a very easy 5miles around the beach, but at night I joined Swansea Harriers group. A small group of guys on the university track with a session of:-

1600m / 800m / 600m / 600m / 800 / 1600.

First mile was 5minutes, then the rest were as follow....2.24, 1.43, 1.45, 2.20, now I don't really have a time for the last mile as my shoe lace came off after a lap, I managed to carry on for another lap but then couldn't hold it!! I felt tired in the legs so happy with the times, they are not fast at all but after the last 3 days I didn't expect it to and was happy to get through it.

Friday I gave the legs a rest and travelled to London (if that is a rest!) to meet up with Mark Pollard who was rooming with me for the night, had a nice meal and then relaxed in the room watching telly and having a good chat. Saturday morning and a 20minute jog in the bag and looking forward to what should be good fun on a very muddy course with a very good field of runners so I will let you know how it goes.....lets see what there is for breakfast.
