Stretford 5,000m
Great effort from Rory, Ben and Andi last week in Barcelona, not quite sure Ben suits a running hat but apart from that they all looked the part and I am sure Andi will make up for things in Dehli.... although Seb Coe didn't sound to confident about things over there! Also with Ryan flying and most of the others knocking some good races it is a good time for RunnersLife, Goolab is the only one struggling at the moment but it is the first slight blip in his little career and sure the experience of Sharpy and Lindsay Dunn will sort it out soon enough... it gives me a chance to catch back up with him!
Stretford this weekend and my first track race since Cardiff BMC last summer (which is back again at the end of the month!), I have done a few track sessions and put on the new spikes tonight to try them out and they feel great not to mention looking swish! I am hoping it won't feel to alien as it has been a while but the plan is to get involved early on and if the wheels come off then so be it but it's a long way to go to run a sensible 14.20-30 really. Not sure if you have seen the expected field but it looks like there will be a few race's within a race with Mark Drapers, Ryan McLeod and couple of others trying to get under 13.40 and then another small group trying to dip under 14 and then another group around 14.15. I have been feeling good in training later and times have looked decent so if I feel good on the night I will be hoping for a personal best and will put myself in a position at 3k to do so and then we will see what happens.

Other RunnersLife athlete, Dave Norman is organising the event and I imagine it is a fair bit of effort and from what I have heard about the track the wind shouldn't be a problem. The only annoying thing is its quite a trek from my house but if that's where I have to go then that's just the way it is, at least the other 5k I'm doing will be in Cardiff.
I have a slight niggle in my RIGHT foot, not the previously bad left but not to sure how serious it is, I am going to the physio tomorrow to find out but if anyone has had the same maybe you can help. It is a random pain in my heel....when I say random I mean some days it is there others it's not. Some times it may hurt on the morning run and then fine at night, the mornings there is no stiffness which was the main problem with the left so that's good but sometimes the pain is pretty sharp for a few minutes, and other times it goes within seconds. On the track tonight I couldn't feel it at all but then it was a bit painful in the warm down before disappearing by the time I drove home!
All I know is I'm looking forward to Stretford and seeing what's in the tank, I am enjoying running again for the first time in a long time and who knows maybe I could sneak that Commonwealth 10k time after all!!
