Tight Hamstrings

Thursday afternoon I went from work to Neath to join sprinter and ex-rugby pro Chris Higgs for a track session of:-

150m x2 @ 21secs / 3mins Recovery

200m x2 @ 28secs / 3mins Recovery

300m x6 @ 50secs / 100m jog Recovery

150m x2 @ 21secs / 3mins Recovery

200m x2 @ 28secs / 3mins Recovery

Now there was a slight wind behind on the 200m efforts so probably a second slower. I really had to work to stay on Chris for the short efforts with long recoveries but the felt really comfortable in the 300m efforts which I ran alone. Not long after I got home the hamstrings were as tight as I remember since early last summer, it was good to feel a bit better than I have been though.

Back to today and the 'Park Run' in Cardiff, it worked well as Lee and I went to watch the 'Wrestler' in the cinema in Cardiff on the Friday night so rather than me come home and go back the next day we stayed over friends house there and then I did the run as training before coming home. Like most runs at the moment it just feels like I have no power and I'm over striding to try and run faster. It was a bit breezy though and the very early start I found it difficult to get going, in the end I was happy with the time and move on to next week. Managed to have a quick word with Steve Davies (fellow Belgrave team mate) who was doing a run in the park while I was warming up, he seemed to be going comfortably and said training was going well.

I ran with Russell (Australian athlete) who has come to stay and race tomorrow, we did 30mins and then I ran to 45mins to do 6miles easy. Good to have a chat as we only spoken a few times after races, hopefully he will run well tomorrow.
