Steady running

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Sharp first of all, can't wait to see a little sharpy or sharpness running around!

After last week and a sore throat disrupting my well laid plans I got to Monday and realised I had then probably done to much steady work after switching my day off. So when Monday morning came around to run 6miles steady my legs weren't having it. I finished the run but was a lot harder than it should have been, and what was the plan for the night.....that's right another steady run. I started off and hit out 5.28, 5.10 (slight downhill mile) and then I usually do a fast mile but my legs couldn't go any faster! My breathing was fine but the legs were very heavy and I decided I would do more harm than good so eased off and ran easy for another few miles.

Tonight I wanted to make sure it was completely different so the session was:-

150 x 2, 1x200 (all flat out)...then 5x200m / 200 jog rec....150x2/1x200 (flat out)

I ran sub 20sec for both 150m efforts then a 27 for the 200m. All the middle 200m efforts were 30s with about a minute jog with the last 3 flat out reps in 20/20/28.

Now the session was fine and although legs still a bit heavy I enjoyed the change and happy enough but the weather was awful!! It just rained harder and harder all the time, and just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. I was freezing by the end and found the last set really hard to keep working through the ice cold hands and bobble hat that was so wet it kept falling over my eyes. Lucky I had company in Chris Higgs but it shouldn't be like this in March, maybe I should have joined Phil Sly in Morocco after all.

Good luck to Sp8y and Drapes.
