Wednesday 18th February

Got up at 7am yesterday to do a hill session before flying to Ireland late afternoon so didn't have time to meet up with Chris Higgs. Jogged around the football pitches just the other side of the lane by my house for 10minutes and then did my drills in rest bay car park which is where the little climb of 200m is right in front of Rest Bay beach. I did 12 x 200m and as the little climb takes a right near the top it was shorter to run back down especially if you cut across the grass, still took 2 minutes recovery though. Legs always feel heavier in the morning but was a good little session and was finished by 9am and as I only had to go for warm down around the beach and not drive all the way back from Neath I saved some good time.

I flew from Cardiff to Belfast at 5.30pm and then got picked up by the team organising the race which took roughly an hour to get to the hotel, a quick 5mile run to get back before last orders for food at the hotel. I had a nice lasagne before hitting the hay.

I woke up this morning to warmer climate than I am used to in Northern Ireland and did 7miles steady,  I ran 6minutes easy and then started to pick it up with the last 5k around the course in around 17minutes 35seconds. Was quite hard for early morning but then it is 7miles steady so suppose it would be! So I have had my breaky and now writing this blog.....

I won't be running this afternoon as I am taking two afternoons off with flying home instead of one whole day as I normally would. Everyone seems to be racing in the next few days with Sharpy joining me over here, Neil in Birmingham along with Ryan and I'm sure Draper will be turning up somewhere so good luck to all.
