Richard Burton 10k

I got there nice and early and after entering I went for a warm up jog with the Swansea runners and Martin Rees, after about 5minutes I started to have one of my 'coughing fits' and was nearly sick again which felt awful. Lewys was with me and I think he knew then that I was going to struggle, as I did. As I did my last few strides at the start line I could feel the legs were heavy and this could be a long 10k!

Weather wasn't to cold but the start was very slow, I suppose this was good for me and as we went through 1mile (5.05) which was down hill I knew it was slow but I couldn't go any faster. The two Cardiff runners (Dan Stevens, and Simon Lawson) took to the front as me and Marc Hobbs sat behind. The group was still around 8 runners by 2miles but the after a couple of smaller climbs where I just about hung on the first big climb was to much and I came out of the back faster than I would of liked.

There were a few more nasty climbs which I was losing ground on each one, the legs felt awful and I had to cough every few minutes. The last mile I tried to keep pace but I had nothing left and was glad to see the finish. First race since october, the positive side is that it cant get any worse.

Good run by Simon Lawson to win.
