Snowed in
Snowed in........................
I have never seen so much snow, ice and chaos in my life.................first it was cold, then came the snow and now we have the ice. Luckily for me the Middlesex Cross has been called off, although my participation was in slight doubt has I can't seem to shift this cough I have. Maria has been really rough with it for a few weeks and now I seem to have caught a small strain of it. Hopefully a few easy days will get ride of it once and for all.
Training......................
As some off you know I have a converted our Garage into a gym which includes - Bike, Cross trainer, Treadmill and a multi gym. So even in this crappy weather I have still managed to train and do the odd session, although the cough has hindered doing my normal amount. So its just been easy 30 minute runs and a little tempo session. The treadmill can go 5:15 pace and up to a 15% gradient, so hard work can be done on it. I think I may even use the cross trainer tomorrow as well as a little run. Maria also spends time in there so it was money well spent and it does make use of space which would have just been used to store loads of crap.
Nick has just been training day to day as its not worth setting a schedule until things improve. He will not be racing until the beginning of Feb and as long as he keeps some sort of running going without the risk of injury he will be fine. I'm also helping out another athlete. At the moment its just advise and someone for him to chat to about training and he is one of, if not, my best mates, so I couldn't turn my back on him. BUT before all you athletes pick up the phone and ask me to coach you, I'm afraid the answer will still be no until I achieve my goal of running sub 14 for 5k, or you are better than Goolab. I then have a good excuse for dropping his sorry arse.
Also on the horizon is the new kit and trainers from Brooks which looks awesome.

One thing for sure is that I will be the best looking and best dressed athlete on the circuit, bar none.
Run happy and be safe.

PS: I hope to update my training log this week.

Sharpy Posted on January 8th, 2010How is your buddle of fun? Leah is sleeping from 10 at night until 5 in the morning sometimes.
Right treadmills...........
We wanted quite a road bust machine as Maria still runs and likes going on the treadmill when the weather is crap. I also needed a pretty quick one for when we have weather like we have know. I searched loads of internet sites, but ended buying a Pro active treadmill.

I got a 6 week old machine for £600. Right place at the right time. There are a few on the website attached with go up to 20km, and are half price - bloody good deals.
treadmill
what type of treadmill do you have sharpy, and how much we talking for a decent one that can run at 5.15s - problem is the cheap ones dont go fast enough for most runners.
