Track is here!
Hello all.
My track season kicks off tomorrow with a 1500m at Trafford. I'm not really expecting to much as I normally run pretty crap first race out, but I need to start somewhere and it fits in well before running the 3k at Loughborough on Sunday. Training has gone pretty well and I managed 2 very good track sessions last week - one with Milesy and one with Goolab(see training report), and along with a few light hills on Thursday and plenty of steady running I feel things seem to moving on pretty well. After Loughborough I will train hard for a few weeks and then run the Britishmilersclub 5k and then depending on how that goes start to plan the rest of the season out. One thing I have noticed lately is the wind seems to be here all day and everyday. What's going on with the British weather?
Also great to see a few guys running some fast 5k times in the States, hopefully this will encourage some of the UK based guys to run quick this summer - weather permitting of course. Britishmilersclub look like they will be inviting a few more overseas runners to spice things up too, so good on those guys.
Maria is slowly getting bigger and along with picking up the baby wagon a few weeks ago things are sinking in that I will be a dad soon. I have had a few words with Dave Mitchinson and Dan Dalmedo who both assure me its easy being a dad/runner, and with Spenny Barden helping out with baby sitting duties things look pretty good. The baby is due end of October which is great for me as I rarely race any cross country and will only miss a few road races. The plan will hopefully be just to run once a day for a few month's and see how things are settling in.
Keep up the good work folks and see you soon!
