To my fans, my second Column... I hope you enjoy

Southern 12 stage

Another great victory in the Southern 12, though Aldershot made a great race of it. We will have to up our game for the national relays as Leeds & Notts will be very strong.

Sp8y: A solid race from our 1500m star.

Goolab: First big race for the Bels and flew round, one for the Future.

Freary: 40+ Paul got stuck in and can still mix it.

Moralee: Another new starter and will be a great addition to the national team.

Will: Super skip always give it 100% and beat Freary's time by a few seconds - super stuff.

Davies: Went off like a sprinter and kept going, sure he will run close to 14 flat at nationals.

Kelly: Has been struggling with an injury but you would have never guessed - great run.

Sharp: Will let Jonesy fill this out. (the most successful relay runner did what he did best, got out and put us back in the lead! Simx)

Pollard: Missed his leg, gutted. Though he seemed happy and it's always lovely to have a wee lad in the team.

Knut: Held his nerve as a late replacement for Wicksy.

Jones: Looped round without a care in the world, class run.

Blackledge: Stormed around, loves the relays and we will need another massive leg in the national.

Stephen & Simon Racing

A week later I'm here in Portugal with the good looking Jones and rugged looks of Polly (Pollard) and my lovely wife. Weather the first 3 days was poor though we stuck to the training plan and even knocked out 9x1k on a flooded track. We have had some great laughs on the runs and I have become very close to the guys, maybe too close as I seem to be showing Jones my butt far too much.

Monte Gordo is a great place to run, nice trails, roads and track is pretty good. There are Loads of British guys around so always plenty of runners to join. Also seems very safe and Maria has been doing a few steady runs in-between sun breaks. We are staying in the Vasco da Gama and its pretty good apart from the OAP rush at meal times, Pollard has almost come to blows several times over the lush chocolate cake and I have saved Jonesy more than once when he was pinned in and almost gummed to death. Have also caught up with my possible future neighbour Spenny Barden who is out here with UK, great guy and I'm sure he will help unloading the van in a few weeks.

Training week ending April 13th:

Monday: 11 steady with Nicholls, Ward.
Tuesday: Am 6 easy, Pm 9x1k - 3:00,55,50,3:00,55,50,3:00,55,49 90 recovery
Wednesday: Am 6 steady, 12 easy
Thursday: Am 5 easy, Pm 6x600 1:34,33,33,35,33,32 - 10min tempo (2 miles)
Friday: Am 6 steady, Pm rest
Saturday: Am 5,4,3x2 hard - 2 min recovery, 10x200 - 29's, 1 min recovery, Pm: 4 easy

90+ week, a record and I feel pretty good, really enjoying the trip and will come back next year if I'm still running.
