Goolab the great
Goolab the great!
Well what can I say. Silver medal is far more than we both had hoped for and looking back now he was ONLY 1 second behind the gold. Its been 2 years of coaching Nick and when you look back over that time he has proved that he can handle the pressure and pull the big races out when it matters. Although being ill and only finish 65th last year was tough, and then dropping out the worlds with stomach problems was a kick in the teeth, but this time we got it right. There have been a few ups and downs(mainly ups), and a few harsh words from me when he has sulked after not running a PB, even threatening to ban him from his next race. All in all its been a fantastic time though, mainly for Nick as its his legs that run, but also for me knowing that I'm helping, well trying to help an athlete do there best.
So well done Nick you are a pleasure to coach, enjoy your 4 days rest.

Coaches!!!
Talking of coaches are you still with Lyndsey Dunn or have you done a Phil Nicholls and departed company so soon?
John Stevens Posted on December 17th, 2009Haha, yeah that would be great to be in charge and boss Spenny around. I need to get some coaching badges behind me as I don't have any, not even level 1. I have been in athletics for almost 20 years and have coached Nick for 2 years, yet there is no fast tracking around now, so I have to start from scratch, which seems really harsh. The main problem is finding the time to do the courses, with work, my training, Coaching and a baby, there not much time for anything else.
Sharpy Posted on December 16th, 2009I will have to try England Athletics and plead my case.
Goolab and Steve - a great running partnership

Do you have ambitions and aspirations to become the future UKA Head endurance coach when Stewart is booted out as a failure?
Keep doing it well man and get Goolab to London in 2012.
