Panic Over
After a horrible day on Friday I was given the all clear by the specialist who agreed to see me at very short notice, i think this was due to being and runner and him being worried if they send me away and I dropped dead Maria might be a little upset with them.
The day started with a 9:30 doctors appointment which was followed by another ECG. After that the doctor spoke to the Cardo nurse who advised me to go up to the hospital to see her. I arrived at around 11 and then waited 30 minutes as she was busy, after a chat and her saying she didn't think I have had a heart attack I was pretty worried. She agreed another EGC was needed to make sure that the doctors done it right and then told me to wait as she was going to see the specialist. The specialist agreed to see me and after another chat about my history and a check up he told me to go and live a normal life and carry on running. I left the hospital at 3ish and had a terrible headache so I decided a rest day was needed.
The specialist did say he will pass the results onto a college of his who does a lot of work in sports medicine to review, and if he then feels I need some further testing then I will go back. Pretty sure if there was any problem he would have not sent me away to carry on running etc....
Running....
I have been feeling much better lately after easing right back on the training. I hope to run a few 1500 to get some pace back in these old legs and then move onto some road races, hopefully peaking for the AAA road 10k in Brighton. Nick ran a great race in the AAA U20 3k, winning in 8:15 and taking some good scalps - so he is now national cross and track champion, not bad for someone who looks so rubbish when he runs.
I will will be off to Ireland on Wednesday to see the in laws, train hard and play some golf - can't wait.
Be cool

Thanks for the advice.
sharpy Posted on August 5th, 2009I'm pretty sure Lindsay will allow a few rest days during my hard blocks - hint hint if your reading Mr Dunn.
I must say that although i'm 33 I am looking forward to this winter more than ever, which is very strange for me. I may even run a few more cross country races.
