Trainingsession Training 10th - 16th May 2010

M- 10 mile run on the flat landof Sale Water Park with Matt Shaw and Matt Bond.
T- 10 mile run on the moors.  Mad busy day at work so run was done early.
W- First session since the marathon.  12 x 1 min off 30 secs jog recovery.  Warm up and long warm down.  10 miles.  Felt good.  Took it steady this time after the marathon with no silly races that could hamper recovery.
T- 10 mile run on the moors.
F- 5 mile run
S- Session of 3 x 5mins off 2 mins jog.  Warm up and long warm down. 10 miles.  Hit the reps hard.  First long reps I have done since VLM.  These will build up each week now as I start to focus on the European Marathon Championships.
S- 14 miles on the moors with Jason Ward.  Nice and steady until we hit the canal for a mile when Jason decided to see if he could still run a low five minute mile!!!

Weekly total mileage- 69 miles

Good week of training.  Legs feeling recovered now from the marathon and looking forward to getting back to regular sessions and running.

Depends really on how far out we start to train for the marathon. If I was training for the VLM I tend to start as of 1st Jan and start to increase the mileage. The first week I start double days I just do Monday and Wednesays. This way I introduce myself slowly in to gettin up early and the increase in the mileage. The week after I do double days each day and maintain this throughout the marathon build up.

mileage increase

Andi

At what stage of your marathon prep do you start the double days with the morning runs to increase the weekly mileage?
