Trainingsession Training 18th October - 24th October
Following the marathon at the Commonwealth Games my coach and I had already discussed having a few weeks off from running to let the body recover. This is still the plan even though I didn't finish the race. Since I have been home I have seen the physio three times and attended one of his core stability classes. The aim over the next six weeks is to really build my core strength and leg muscles before starting up hard training again. The hardest thing for me is that I love running. I enjoy getting up and going for a run. After a tough day at school I like to go out for a run. I have had to stay home at nights this week and talk to the wife!!!

Each evening I have spent time doing exercises on the swiss ball and stretching. This is something I would do more of when I am running morning and night but it is just a matter of time. At the moment I have no excuse not to do them as I am not running. Making myself do them isn't a problem as I know it is something I should be doing. When I start back running morning and night I am going to look carefully where I can fit this core work in maybe three times a week. I have introduced some exercises using some weights. Duncan from Athlete Matters was amazed at how little weight I could lift. He set the weights up and I said there is no way I could lift it before I even tried. I couldn't move it, let alone lift it. Off came some weights and still I struggled. So eventually we got to a weight that I was able to lift and exercise with.
