Trainingsession Training 19th July - 25th July
This week has seen the mileage drop off a lot and only one run a day. This is something my coach always gets me to do when we are two weeks out from the marathon. Before London Marathon it is possible to race on the Saturday at the National Road Relays so to replicate this I did a session.
M- 10 miles pm with Matt Shaw
T- 10 miles pm with Jason Ward in the very wet weather!
W- 6 miles am. Had to get this done early as I was off to Alton Towers at 7am with 650 students and wouldn't be back to Rochdale till 7pm.
T- Rest day!
F- 8 miles in the afternoon with Jason Ward. Finished school at 1.30pm for the school holidays and met Jason on the reservoirs in Tintwistle. Had a nice steady run on the moors above Arnfield and back via Coach Lane. Always feels good to have finished work for the a few weeks. Out at night at the Fat Loaf which is one of Matt Shaws places for my coaches 60th Birthday. It's not his birthday till the day after the marathon but we wanted to get something together for him before we go there. Was a good night and Jason made a promise that he will get back in to racing shape.
S- Up early as Donna was off to Belfast and I was going to watch the Snowdon Race. Did 4 x 5mins off 2 mins jog. Felt good. 10 miles total.
S- 10 miles in the afternoon after picking Donna up from Liverpool Airport.
Total Weekly Mileage- 54 miles (Bit of a difference from previous weeks!)
This has been a good week. Work was easing off a lot with kids not on a real timetable for three days with sports days and trips taking over. Even the trip to Alton Towers was easy going with a well behaved group on my coach, only one sick kid and they all turned up back at the coach bang on time. Donna went to Belfast early Saturday morning to run the BMC 800m race. She was in the B race. She ran well and won the B race in 2.05.94 which was a new PB for her and the first time she has broke 2.06. On Saturday me and kadi were in Llanberis watching the Snowdon race. kadi wasn't too keen on walking up the mountain but she got stuck in. We only went about 1 mile up but think that was enough for her in the rain. Was chatting to Kenny Stuart and Steve Brace about the forthcoming marathon and Steve was telling me about the marathons he did in Barcalona. Rest of my Sunday was spent watching the Brownlee brothers in the triathlon at Hyde Park. (I watched on the TV) It was great race to watch and seeing Ali push himself to the absolute limits and still manage to finish, even though he probably didn't realise he finished was good stuff. Jonny Brownlee is going to be the one to beat soon in the triathlon.
My next training update will be after the marathon now so hopefully it will be good read!!!
