Trainingsession Training 4th July - 10th July

This week was a planned easier week with me easing down for the European Mountain Championships.  Having the opportunity to represent my nation is one of the best things I can do so I always want to give my best in the race.  It also landed at a good time as the previous weeks had all been weeks of 100+ miles.

M- 10 mile run from Sale Harriers.
T- 6.15 mile run from home pm.
W- 6 mile run pm.
T- 6 mile run am before flying to Turkey for the race.  All day was spent travelling after leaving Manchester Airport at 11am.  Arrived at race hotel at 12pm Turkish time.  (10pm UK time)  The travel was much better than I thought it would be.  The long drive, ferry crossing and long drive after the ferry was well worth it.  The hotel was beautiful, set high up the mountain at about 1800m.  The views the next morning were brilliant.  Made arriving in darkness well worth it.
F- 6.44 mile run.  This link will take you to my Garmin Connect for the run.  Also viewable below as recorded on my Times Global Trainer.  Kept it very steady and ran with the senior mens team and some of the juniors.  Did 4 x20 secs stride outs with Vernon and Osbourne.  Spent the afternoon checking out the final 4km of the race.
S- 4.28 mile run am.  Went out after breakfast.  The great thing about this trip is we went a day earlier than normal so it meant that we checked the courseout Friday and Saturday could be spent checking out the senior womens teams of the other nations (Joke, that was just Swinburn) and relaxing drinking tea.
S- 1 mile warm up.  European Mounatin Championships. 7th place, first brit. This link from my Garmin Connect should show you how flat the course was!!!! Report in race report section.  1 mile warm down.  After a very big lunch Nick, Claire and I opted for a good walk to the top of Mount Uludag.  Was a nice few hours out walking.  Big party at night which saw too many juniors drinking too much beer and then not feeling very well on the 1am coach trip back to the airport.  Drinking beer and a 70 minute drive down a mountain pass didn't seem to make them feel very well.  Including Swinburne who chucked up.  Had nothing to do with the beer, but the twisty road.  Oh yes we believe that Nick!!!

Weekly total- 47.87mile.
