Trainingsession Training 9th August - 15th August
M- 10 miles from Sale Harriers with Matt Shaw, Matt Bond and James Bailey. Good pace maintained throughout the run. Ask James!!!
T- 6 miles on the low fells of Hollingworth. Was checking out a suitable course for a new trail race we are looking at putting on. Plus only a short run in preparation for the Saddleworth 6.
W- 3 mile am. Nice steady run before racing Saddleworth 6. Saddleworth 6 mile road race. Mainly flat with a drag of a climb on each lap. 30.00mins 2nd place. Ben Fish pushed on after 1mile and ran an excellent 29.27. Couldn't go with him, but I haven't done any speed sessions for a while or had the legs ticking over very quick recently. I was pleased with my run even though I have run quicker but had a niggling pain in top of my right hamstring.
T- Rest day. Decided not to run as the top of my right hamstring was tight and I felt like a day off would be a good thing to do. Managed to get booked in with paul Savage at Athlete Matters who treated the area with some soft tissue massage and accupuncture.
F- 7.10 miles. All off road on Hobson Moor. Leg felt much better but could still feel the pain I had so will see how it goes tomorrow.
S- 7.72 miles Felt good. Was going to push on and do a little further but decided to play it safe and stick to the planned route and distance. Spent the afternoon at Up & Running, Manchester where Assist were doing some VO2 max testing for people.
S- 13 mile run. Ran to Dovestones on the Roman Road. Bumped in to Gaz Raven after 4 miles and ran with him round all three resers. Was good to be running with someone. last week i ran with carl on all my runs and this week i have been out on my own. Felt ok, leg didn't bother me and some nice kids had set up a drinks statiuon outside their farm so on the way back got a nice glass of water. They did offer me a chocolate biscuit but I turned it down!!!!
Weekly total- 56 miles.
A relatively low weeks mileage for me but it wont do any harm following the marathon in Spain. I am recovering well and off on holiday for two weeks next week. While away I will be training each day and building the mileage up.
