Great Manchester 10k
The Great Manchester 10k is a great race in a great city. Ok I would say that being from the area and Manchester being my local city. The race has grown to a massive size now and the front end of this Gold Label 10k is outstanding. The field assembled by the orgainsing team is excellent. It would have been a great race to watch never mind being in.
I was looking to try and run a low 30 minute 10k. I had discussed with my coach that I should run 2.57 per km and if I slowed in the second half at least I could still run a low 30 minute 10k. I got detached from the group in front of my very early on but I was happy running my pace. In hindsight now I maybe should have gone with the group in front and tried to hang on to them. I am confident that I am in low 30 shape but Sunday wasn't the day for me.
Impressive run was had by my team mate Joe Bailey who didn't just break 30 minutes but pissed all over it and ran 29.45. Well done Joe. Well done to all those who ran great times. Seeing so many go sub 28 and low 29s is very encourgaing.
