Sale 10

Its been a good few years since I had raced the Sale 10.  You don't get many ten mile races so I was looking forward to this race and felt I could run a low 49 as my training had been going well.  As it turned out I didn't break 50 (50,03) and only finished third because Matt Proctor pulled up in the last mile with an injury.  This was a great shame for Matt as he must have been on for a very quick time and I would guess a big PB.
I decided to race the 10 mile the day before after considering not bothering as each time I had ran in the eight days before this I had to keep stopping for bathroom breaks as I had a sore stomach.  I decided to race as I knew I was going away soon and would havt therefore have chance to race until September.  The race went better than I had planned with regards my stomach.  My only problem was feeling weak and not having the strength to hang on when Dave Webb pushed on.  Dave ran a cracking race and ran the second half quicker than his first.  Hopefully he  will go on to have a great race at the World Championship Marathon in a few weeks time.
The Sale 10 was a well organised event and a pancake flat course.  This could be one of them races that if a few people got together and decided they were going to race it for fast times could result in some fast times being posted.
