Sale 5 mile Bank Holiday Race

Donna decided to run the Sale 5 last night as a tempo run so I opted to have a run out and by the time I had warmed up, raced and warmed down it would be my ten mile run done for the day and I would be able to stay in during the evening and watch Britains Got Talent!
I did the race last year in 24.34 and this year, having been pushed all the way by Simon Deakin ran 24.36.  What this shows I don't know as I felt we were moving well.  The weather this morning was not great.  No wind, but very wet and the tricky hair pin turns which slow things down were even more ticky with the ground being slippy from the rain.  The middle path in the park was also a mud bath with mud and big puddles.
Simon and I ran more or else together for the first two miles.  I was trying hard to pull out some ground on him as I didn't want to be entering the track with 450m to run with Simon on my tail.  I couldn't shake him off but did get back on the track just before him.  In the end I ended up 2 seconds ahead of him and not quite sure how!
Donna ran ok to say she was just doing a tempo run.  First lady home. I don't think she liked the race though!
I won a nice Adidas jacket.  No repeat of the cash prizes offered last year.
Thanks to Dave Rogers and his team for the great race and for standing out in the bad weather.
