Trafford Open Meeting 3K
Yes, thats right, a track race. Took some getting used to, running round and round in cicles but I made the finish line. (Just!)
All part of the training. They kill me but are good for me, or so the coach tells me.
I hadn't raced on the track for some time so wasn't sure how it was going to go. I dusted off my Adidas spikes and got on with it.
Race started very very quick. I think Tom Lancashire and Ricky Stephenson ran the first lap in 61 secs. I was obviosuly some way behind bringing up the rear of the field. I once ran 61 seconds on the track but wasn't near the 400m mark!!!
As the race pushed on I settled in to a pace behind Simon Horsefield. Simon had told me he was going for 8.25/8.30 so I would be happy with an 8.30 on my first 3k for ages. Towards the end of the race I was working hard and felt comfortable, just couldn't go any faster. I finished in 8.32 so was pleased overall.
I hope to get some more 3Ks done during the season. (Hopefully, if I don't talk myself out of them!!)
