Trainingsession 13th - 19th September
Sunday - 2 hours on the treadmill at Lila's. Pretty dull but watched Stephen Fry and Porridge! I slightly misjudged when it got dark so was forced to treadmill it. Not much fun! (18 miles)
Monday - 75 mins round canal (11.5 miles)
Tuesday - 60mins along canals (9 miles)
Wednesday - 90mins with 10 x 3mins off 3mins alternating between tempo and 6min miling. The tempos were about 5.05 miling pace. (15 miles)
Thursday AM - 58 mins along canal (9 miles)
PM - 58 mins steady (9 miles)
Friday - 58 mins seasy/steady (8.5 miles)
Saturday - AM - 2 miles tempo on track (10.20)/ 5 x 5 mins Kenyan Hills on Hampstead Heath/2 miles tempo (10.18) all off 75 secs. Felt quite strong and worked hard up the hills. (14 miles)
PM - 35 mins easy with Sam (5 miles)
99 miles. Damn, I miscounted! Oh well, was a good mileage week and legs feel pretty fresh and are coping with it fine, so will gradually nudge it up over the coming weeks I guess. I doubt I'll go much above 110, but would be good to try and make 110 'the norm'.

Mark Posted on September 25th, 2009Long runs
Hi Mark,
Ben Posted on September 24th, 2009It varies a bit. I sometimes start off easy and then naturally pick up be doing around 6 min miling for the last hour, or if I've been instructed to keep them easy or I feel knackered, I'll keep them at 6.30-6.45 pace. Sometimes they are the focus of my weekend, and in these cases, the last 8-10 miles will be at a pretty hard effort (5.20-5.30), after an easy first 90mins (6.30-6.45). It's good to vary it I think, and especially for marathon training, doing a 50 minute tempo after a 14 mile run is pretty knackering!
Long Run
Ben, love yr blogs. I was wondering what pace you do yr long runs at?
