Saucony Media Event
Hi all,
Well I've been pain free since my last update and I've not yet tried any running at faster than 10k pace but 20-30 minute tempo runs have gone without a hitch. This week I am building up the volume and reducing the number of days between the quicker runs to see how everything reacts. If it all stays together I will be very pleased indeed!
I also snuck some time out to go to the Saucony Media Event yesterday in their London showroom. It was educating all press titles from Vogue to Runner's World about the Saucony minimalist footwear and had shoe fittings as well as the top American scientists explaining how to transition and the different effects on the body that these new shoe types have. I laughed when a female journalist asked if the extra force on the calves from these shoes 'meant that calves would be more toned' and 'if they burnt more calories'. The first point may be correct, the second point obviously not. I also got a sneak peek at the next verison if Kinvara and Hattori trail shoe. They look super smart. I haven't yet run in the Hattori as it's not the time to bring in aggressive shoes like this when you're recovering from injury! I'm not sure I ever will use them regularly but they're really comfy and I may do some easy running in them. I certainly wear the Kinvara and Mirage a lot and I'm all for less clumpy running shoes as I really hate wearing huge running shoes.
In other news, I am off to Cologne today to attend a social media conference and back late tomorrow night. May make it tricky to get my run in tomorrow but I'll do my best!
I'm very much looking forward to see how Berlin marathon goes. I really hope Haile and Paula can have good runs and also all the best to Martin Williams and Andi Jones as well!
