Stilllllll not shaken these injuries off
Hi all,
I know I haven't updated forever and this is a mix of being amazingly busy at work - a trip to Australia for work added to this - as well as just not feeling the running love and inspiration to write about running. Maybe I'll counter this by writing less about running and more about what books I've read and films I've watched...
Anyway, the groin/hip pain transferred from the left side to my right and it got to the point that I was running through pain and not enjoying it at all. It would be really sore the day after sessions and I was dreading every run. So I took 2 weeks off and then started from scratch again with some easy runs and just running once a day. The hip flexor was feeling good doing this and I'm now at a stage where I can do 10 miles at a decent clip and have introduced a couple of double day easy runs this week to see how it copes. So far it's 95% pain free. The 5% is just some very slight awareness of where the pain was but nothing to really worry me.
I'm still seeing Paul Hobrough most weeks and stretching and doing more one leg squats than I can count. The thing that irritates me is even thoguh it gets to a stage where it hurts to run, no stretch or position really hurts a lot, nor does it hurt to touch. It's a strange one....
Seeing Dave Webb and Lee Merrien have 2 fantastic runs in Daegu focussed me again. I won't be running a marathon in 2011, but am now aiming to be firing on all cylinders in 2012 and have a crack at running under 2.12 at London. To do that I need to be confident that I can train without breaking down and so that's my aim for 2011.
I will write more often I promise.
Ben
