Merry Christmas!
This will be my final blog of 2011. I can proudly say this has been by far the most successful year of my athletics career to date. There has been a few ups and downs, not even to mention hill sessions. The highlights for me are probably placing 6th in the National cross country last winter and of course representing Great Britain in the Great North City games in the summer.
With all that now behind me i am looking forward to the prospect of what 2012 will bring with great anticipation. My main focus at the moment is to complete a solid winter in preparation to the track season. My plans are to end the winter with a few races to find out what sort of shape i am in. The national cross country and a 10k on the roads are what i have in mind. My intentions are to follow the same routine as last year by going to Font-Romeu for a spell of altitude training to get myself into peak fitness for the start of the summer. Even though my 2011 season went well i feel that with a few tweaks here and there i can improve on my over all performances in 2012.
In the meantime i will be combining the Christmas festivities with my normal training programme, there's no excuses to ease down or have any days off at the moment. Slightly gutted on my run this morning to see my neighbours 10ft inflatable snowman had burst and was hanging over the front of the house, hope they manage to patch him up for the big day! My plan is to get up extra early for my runs so that i don't miss out on any off the festive fun!
Merry Christmas to you all!

Steve J Posted on December 19th, 2011Sorry to be a party pooper- but early training runs mean early to bed and no late nights with alcohol afraid! Remember the competition will be training hard as a normal runnerslife(excuse the pun!!)
Dont get too hung up on your diet- just run a bit harder and longer to loose it!
