Great North City Games

Gaining this international came as a huge surprise. I was completely unaware of the fixture till i got the call up to run. Less than a week before the Great city games i had placed second in the Robin Hood Half marathon which was hardly ideal preparation for a mile race against one one the best runners in the world Bernard Legat! I feel my selection for Team GB was justified in that i had run a 1500m pb this season and just 2 weeks before i won a decent standard 1500m race in Molndal, Sweden.

The event was one of great excitement and something i was very proud to take part in. Not only being amongst some world class athletes but to be part of the whole Team GB experience. The opportunity to run in front of 20,000 spectators live on BBC1 was daunting enough but to be stood next to Legat on the start line would be enough to overwhelm any athlete!

I was pleased with my performance but from a team perspective it was a shame to lose to the USA on home soil!
