Back home & back to work

Hi

So the rest of our camp went really well & i managed to get some good quality sessions done (& also avoid the nasty stomach virus going around).  I really enjoyed our time in Portugal & even though we were there a bit earlier than normal it was some of the best weather we have ever had which was an added bonus.

We arrived home late on Thursday evening & it was straight back to work for me on Friday.  I work as a Sports Therapist in a Private Clinic, although i am self employed, hence returning to work so quickly.  Needless to say after 2 weeks off it has been a busy few days & a bit of a shock to the system but i think i'm finally back into my routine again.

It is difficult coming home from a training camp  & back to work again as when i'm away i don't tend to do much more training than i would at home but with all the extra recovery time the sessions & runs are usually of a higher quality.  People always ask if i would ever consider going full time as an athlete but much as i love going away to training camps, i don't think i would cope with only having athletics to think about 24/7.  In the last few years i have made cuts to my working hours & now work a maximum of 15-20 hours per week which i think just about strikes a balance for me.  I feel that it is important to have other things going on in your life & to be able to step away from it for a while.

Anyway thanks for reading, write soon

The camp was a Scottish Athletics funded camp & there was quite a big squad of athlete's out there from all the disciplines. I was the only person from my group that went out but managed to do all my runs with some of the others there (Sarah Inglis, Nicola Gauld, Beth Potter, Lynsey McNeil) most of the sessions except 1 were done on my own though as we were all at a slightly diff point in our training.

Racing plan is to start off with a 1500 at the Scottish Open/Loughborough Trials on the 8th of May then another 1500 & an 800 at Loughborough & Manchester BMC although not yet fully decided which event where from those 2 yet.

Did you jump in with other groups out there, is the camp funded by UKA or scotland?
