Loughborough International 1500m

I was very excited about this race after seeing the start list the previous night as it looked like a good quality field & i had hoped to be dragged round to a fast time.  As it turned out a combination of the weather & the lack of a pacemaker meant that it was reduced to a race over the final 600m.

I started off by going to the front to stay out of trouble as it was slow & quite choppy (we went through in aprox 75s/2.30).  I held my position well until 600m to go when i suddenly got clipped & bumped & ended up in about 6th place, from there i worked to get back into contention & I managed to get back onto the lead group, there was another acceleration with 300m to go & the again at 150m.  I never really got back into a good position & finally fininshed 4th.

The race was neither good nor bad, i have watched the video back & think i made a few mistakes tactically.  I will hopefully learn from these & be able to position myself better in the future.  The good news is that I get to tackle my first 800m next Friday, will keep you posted.
