update 1/11/11
Hi all,
First of all sorry for not Blogging for a while just had lots going on with house renovations, being ill, and little man being ill as well ,and my computer breaking.
Now that the dark mornings and dark nights have arrived it feels like the official start of the winter season, you know the one where have to wear ten million layers of running gear, do all you’re running on the road and most of us are still bloody freezing with all the gear we have on, but somehow I still looked forward to this time of year don’t ask why except for X/c how can anyone enjoy going to races when it is cold, raining and muddy.
But there is just something about winter training, don’t get me wrong I hate all the dark mornings and nights, but there is something about running in the cold frozen morning/afternoon run that makes you feel so alive and when the sun comes out as well that has to be the greatest feeling around especially when running over the countryside with all the great views, don’t get me wrong by the time we get to the new year, I may be saying a completely different thing, so all I can say is try and enjoy the different seasons that we have in this country we are quite lucky to have such diverse weather.
Training last week has been solid is the only way I can put it all sessions were done and it was good to back in to the swing of things and get back into the groove after being ill, just doing a lot of tempo runs and fartleks until the end of November, don’t really start the hard sessions until Dec, mileage will stay at about 80 in till then when we will increase the miles in late Dec and also start the long winter sessions.
Had to drop out of the Nationals relays as had a virus that wiped me out, sorry to the team for that but I wouldn’t have been worth the place, and also had to miss the Birmingham half due to my son being ill in the early hrs of Sunday morning , having a family certainly puts running into perspective and you realise how important my Family is, I know it can’t be helped and my son health comes before anything, but my next was the Great South 10 miler which I was bursting at the seem to get out and race, and put all these recent problems to bed, the race went well we had a good group of me, Dave Webb, Neilson Tickner,Marius Ionescu which worked really well apart from the last 2 miles where we lost over 1min due the windy condition’s but I will get to that in my next blog .
Well that is all for now hope you all have a good week of running and remember that some days you may struggle to get out the door but just think how good you feel when have done you’re run and the miles or session are in the bank.
See you all at the Mansfield.
