Six Stage final
Race Report
Well were do I start, 4th place is never the best place to finish but overall I think we done a good job. We had a few set backs which couldn’t be helped for example Dan Dalmedo still coming back from injury, Matt Janes did a Marathon last week, and myself who was not well with a bug which meant breathing was really difficult. I could have run quicker but 17.33 was ok considering how bad I felt my heart rate is normally 38 bpm but the last 2days my heart was 50 bpm which is a bit high, the reason I raced is because we had a very strong team out and I didn’t want to let my Team mates down.
Not taken anything away from Newham/Belgrave/Aldershot it was a very good relay to be involved in.
I was on leg 5 ,Mark Draper handing over to me so I started of in 4th place soon as I started I knew I wasn’t feeling great there was no bounce in my legs arms felt heavy, but I knew I had to get on with it
I knew behind me were Mr Phil Wicks and Chris Thompson so I knew that I was being hunted down ,I caught up Leeds who were in 3rd place by the Ice cream van so I want passed him, Mr Wicks come alongside me and he pushed on ,then Chris Thompson came alongside which kind of work me up that I needed to push on which is easier said then down when you cant breath and it feels someone is stamping on your`re chest ,but I managed to pick up and got a gap on Chris around the cone and up the hill but he caught me up going down the hill and from there to the finish we were neck and neck but the last 50 metres managed to go past me .
Overall I was pleased with my run if I was 100 per cent I could have gone quicker but still a good run hopefully by next week I should be back to normal in time for the Great south 10 mile and than the week after the National XC Relays were we are defending are title.
