Trainingsession 18th October - 24th October

Mon 18 Oct
2:49pm  5 miles
7:07pm  10 miles including track session at Wythenshawe.   4x1600m (2mins).  4:43, 4:39, 4:41, 4:42.  The final week of us doing Monday track sessions, next week we revert to road sessions at Sport City.  Getting slightly faster on these sessions by the week without forcing it, still early days after marathon.

Tue 19 Oct
2:00pm  8 miles.  Easy run from work to van rental to collect van for evening promotion.

Wed 20 Oct
3:02pm  5 miles back from van rental.
7:15pm  7 miles including track session at Wythenshawe.  10x400m (1min).   68, 66, 66, 66, 64, 63, 63, 63, 63, 63.  First week I’ve been allowed to do 2 sessions, again on the track as we are racing at weekend.  Wednesday sessions will be tempo runs on non race weeks and short track sessions such as the above on race weeks.  Started steady and realised I felt great, was shocked I was able to run 63s but Norman says it is because I have followed his recovery schedule since the marathon.

Thu 21 Oct

Comments On "18th October - 24th October"

hi dave,
thanks for your blog. just wondering what your is opinion is on the pace of your steady/long runs when in the normal preparation phase. is it case of listening to your or/and trying to run within a certain pace?

thanks

Thanks Andi, I might not be firing on all cylinders again yet but taking things easy after the marathon was important and I'm starting to see the benefits in training now. Hopefully I will see the rewards in racing over the next few months. You will see the rewards of taking this break I can guarantee that.

I was working on Sunday, I was expecting I'd have to run on my own when I finished work at 4pm but then found out that Gaz and Carl were running after Carl finished work at 6:30pm. We ran from Stalybridge Tesco out to Greenfield and looped back, a route you know very well! Cheers, Dave.

Hi Dave,
I like reading your training as it makes me believe that the two weeks off I am having will pay off in the long run.
Why did you run so late on Sunday?
