Athleteprofile

I am based in Liverpool under the guidance of Dave Evans running for Liverpool Harriers. I am an LJMU graduate currently training as a full time athlete.

I compete over track, road and cross country and I am currently sponsored by Adidas.  My main career achievements to date include winning the British University's 5000m Championship in 2008 and 2009, the AAAs u23 5000m Championship in 2008 and winning the AAAs Indoor 3,000m Championships.  I represented GB in the summer as part of the GNR.

Future success depends on my continued dedication and ability to concentrate solely on training and my racing schedule. As such, financial stability plays an important role, with continued support from sponsors proving invaluable. Since losing my job at the end of Novemeber I have strived in my new training envrionemnt, allowing me to train harder and more frequently by getting suitable rest and recovery inbetween sessions.

If you are interested in working with me please get in touch now and in return for your support, you can expect to recieve increasing levels of positive publicty as my profile along side the profile of athletics in this Olympic year continues to rise.

Through press interviews in local and national press, well-placed branding (e.g. car advertising, Runnerslife), corporate appearances and via Runnerslife, I am well equipped to promote your company in an expressive and professional manner.

AAAs Indoor 3km Champs

Raced on

I wasn't sure how my legs would respond going into this race having competed in the Armagh 5k on Thursday night in Ireland.  The last couple of times I have ran a decent 3k I have done a session on the Thursday night before and ran well so I was hoping for more of the same this weekend.  .. Armagh 5k

Raced on

Armagh is always one of my favourite races of the year so to come so close to winning but not getting the win was very disappointing, especially the way the race paned out. I knew i was in fairly good shape going into the race despite my run in Northerns so I was looking forward to a good hard race .. Read More

Northern XC Champs

Raced on

Another cross-country - another bad day at the office!   It's starting to become very frustrating now but I am just going to have to learn to accept that I can't run XC especially over really muddy courses like Sunderland yesterday.  I finished in 26th yesterday, approx 4mins off .. Read More

Leeds Abbey Dash 10km

Raced on

This was my main aim pre xmas seeing as I am so hopeless at XC so I was a bit gutted after this race and feel a bit deflated now.  To come so close to a pb yet not get one and get out sprinted at the finish kind of sums up 2010 for me.  It's solid but as a runner we always want to run pbs, .. Liverpool & District Race 2 - Sefton Park

Raced on

22nd 29:50 and 1st Liverpool & District League.   Solid run over the XC for me, however I do think I could have maybe taken more advantage of the conditions as I don't think they have ever been that good under foot in Sefton, and probably never will!   The plan was to go off steady a .. Read More

Puma Hellrunner

Raced on

Hell Runner http://www.hellrunner.co.uk/hellupnorth.htm   1st 58:30   I know not everyone approves of me doing this race but I enjoy it and I think everyone needs races like this where there is no pressure and you can just run and enjoy yourself.  Its also a Puma sponsored .. Read More

Mansfield XC Relays

Raced on

Leg 2 - 15:17   The day didn't get off to the best of starts with me forgetting my vest and having to borrow one off one of the u17s, hence why I looked like I was wearing a Liverpool Harriers compression top.  Then just as I'm stripping off ready to go Dave comes running over to .. Read More

Liverpool 10k

Raced on

I will be perfectly honest, I did this race for the brown envelop at the end of the race!  We put all those miles in and hard sessions so sometimes its nice to get a bit of money every now and again it makes it worthwhile!  Particularly as I am now down to 1 day a week in work.  The .. Read More

Northern 6 Stage Relays

Raced on

I was very pleased to come away from this race with the fastest leg of the day after last week's disappointment over 1500m at Preston.   I ran a time of 16:22 for the 5.6k leg moving Liverpool from 12th place to 3rd place on leg 2.  It was a great team performance to get .. Read More

Preston Elite 1500m

Raced on

At the weekend I ran the 1500m up at Preston for a bit of fun really as it was a bit of a novelty running a 1500m on the roads.  I hadn't modified my training for the race in anyway and just wanted to run it off the strength work and miles that I have been doing.  So it was no suprise that .. AAAs and Armagh

Sometimes running involves a lot of sacrifices and almost always involves hard work and dedication.  Since September I have been training pretty consistently banging in the miles and tough track sessions and on Saturday it finally paid off winning my first senior AAAs title.  As a result o .. Northerns

Tomorrow is the Northern XC and is a race that Liverpool Harriers are really looking forward to (some of us more than others!) Hopefully if we all run well we should be in the mix for some medals, but it won't be an easy task with so many strong teams in the North currently, with the usual challenge .. Read More

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you all had a great time and didn't eat too much! On Tuesday I raced the Ribble Vally 10km up at Clitheroe. It's always a great event and this year was no exception. After a disappointing 2010 I am pleased to have made significant improvements this year and I still feel confident that I have lots of areas to improve going forward to 2012.  Steve J made some very useful comments on my last blog, which I have been making a conscious effort to improve in recen .. Getting Cold

It's getting to that time of year again now were I am going to have to start thinking about putting the shorts away for a few months.  I am a massive wuss when it comes to the cold and I'm not afraid to admit it.  Us runners don't have any fat to insulate us you see!  Following Sefton .. Read More

It was a red carpet weekend for me, on Sunday I was very busy fitting in a 2-hour run, watching Liverpool beat Chelsea and also attending two presentations one at West Kirby Leisure Centre and one at the West Derby Conservatory Club! Quick Update

published on

It took me a good few days following the BUPA Great South Run to get my legs back feeling fresh again.  Even that took a week without sessions with a run out over the mud at Mansfield in the XC relays.  Since Mansfield though I've noticed a massive improvement and I feel like have that bou .. Great South

Sunday was my first attempt at a 10-mile race, and its fair to say it didn't quite go to plan. I always run fairly aggressively, some times it pays off and sometimes you blow up big time.  Sunday unfortunately was one of those races were the wheels come off.  I won't be changing the way I .. I don't want this blog to turn into the Alex O'Gorman show as that might give him a big head but I honestly can't praise him enough.  This week I had a bit of panic following my Sunday run as I honestly thought I had the start of a stress fracture.  Sunday morning was the day of the Liverp ..
