Preston Elite 1500m

At the weekend I ran the 1500m up at Preston for a bit of fun really as it was a bit of a novelty running a 1500m on the roads.  I hadn't modified my training for the race in anyway and just wanted to run it off the strength work and miles that I have been doing.  So it was no suprise that I was found lacking speed down the home straight.  Dave Proctor won the race in about 3:57and I know he must be in good shape atm training with Tom Lancashire for the Commonwealths and Bruce Raeside who I know well from Font Romeu was 2nd having won the Middlesborgh Mile a few weeks ago. I can't find any results anywhere but I would imagine I was just outside 4mins but feel free to correct me!

It's a really good little race though, 3 laps around the market area which seemed to fly by.  The only downside was the sharp bends each lap which slowed you down a bit.  The race started off pretty slow until Bruce got out and took the pace on and from there I knew it was going to be down to who had the best kick at the finish.  I think I must of left mine on the beach in Turkey as I couldn't respond to Dave's injection of speed and had to settle for 3rd place with Lewis Moses in 4th. At the end of the race it felt as though I had just ran a 200m sprint!

After the race I felt completly wiped out so decided not to run again later that day just encase I was coming down with something.
