Came back from New Mexico late thursday night and then took an easy day friday to get ready for this mile. I used it mainly as a time trial to see how I was after being at altitude and where I should take my training over the next couple weeks.

Initailly I was pretty annoyed with my race as I was hoping to run something around the 4.02 region but found tough to front run the whole way and grind through the lactic. I went through 809m in 2.00 and then just hit a wall. In New Mexico I concentrated mainly on strength stuff so when it came to running 59/60second 400ms I was caught a little off guard. This race can be put down as a solid rust buster and i'll use it as a bench mark.

I have three weeks till my next mile race and from now and till then I will be knocking out plenty sessions faster than race pace and concentrating on my speed endurance. It usually doesn't take me long at all to adapt to speed work because that is what I did a lot as a junior.

Your 2:21 1K from before you went to altitude suggested around 3:40 form....so your 1mile result at the weekend is probably a combination of coming back down to sea-level and an accumulation of strength based 3K type work....with a bit of freshening up I suspect you will rip your PB to shreds!
