John Talyor Foundation

John Taylor was a young international athlete who died tragically from a heart condition known as cardiomyopathy.

The John Taylor foundation for young athletes was created with the aim of raising awareness of this condition, and assisting young athletes.
It is a registered charity, 1101008.

Funds are raised through a variety of means: many fell races donate some or all of their proceeds to the Foundation. (One of the first events was "John's Run", a fell race in February 2003 on the Penistone moors much loved by John and other local fell runners).

The foundation

The John Taylor foundation for young athletes is a charitable trust set up in 2002 to honour John's memory in a fitting way, through the sport that he loved.
It was registered as a charity, # 1101008, on 3rd December 2003.

The objects of the foundation are:

  1. The relief of poverty by the provision of financial assistance to young amateur athletes in the United Kingdom to allow them to pursue opportunities in amateur athletics; and
  2. The promotion and preservation of good health by raising public awareness of the condition of Cardiomyopathy in athletics in the United Kingdom.
