Kris Gauson, who sent most of Christmas period training out in America while others were enjoying the festive period ran a personal best last weekend at the Gladstein Invitational indoor track meet, Indiana.
Kris has ambitions to feature at the World Indoor Championships in Turkey in March - and he kept those hopes firmly on track over the weekend. The 23-year-old RunnersLife athlete delivered one of the best runs over 3000 metres indoors by a Scot in a number of years.

Kris clocked 8.01.40 for a Personal Best and to finish third in a race won in 7.58.20 by Team Indiana Elite athlete Matt Elliott.
With Gauson aiming for the 1500 metres in Istanbul it was a decent effort over the longer distance. His target will now be the British Indoor trials for Turkey which take place in Sheffield on February 11/12.
Kris said in his race report "All in all I'm really happy with my race because It was a big PB obviously and it shows me I'm strong at the moment. There is plenty areas where I could have gained an extra few seconds but for now I'll take that and move on to this mile invite next week. I'm not sure if I will be able to fit in another 3km this season but going forward I'd like to be a little more aggressive in the middle part of the race and see if I can get down close to the 7.50 range".
"The field next week for the mile will be very similar to the 3km so hopefully I can replicate this approach and look to run a world indoor qualifying time".
