Stretford 5k, Flanders Cup 1500m & Meerbrook 15k

Saturday night at Stretford running track saw three 5k races with Ryan McLeod, Simon Jones and Dave Norman taking part with Dave Norman also part of the organising team. The 'A' race was won by Moumin Geele in 13:47 with Ryan in 3rd place in 14:02, Ryan was a bit dissapointed with his race after his recent 7:52 3k race the previous week but will have a chance to put things right in Crystal Palace Grand Prix 5k. Simon Jones continued his come back with 11th place in 14:22 and was happy enough after a long trip, "It is faster than the last 5k although of course I would of like a few more seconds" said Simon after the race.

In the 'B' race Dave Norman ran 14:38 and then did some pace making work for the 'C' race straight afterwards which Dave saw as good marathon training for the up coming Toronto Marathon.

1st - Moumin Geele - 13.47

2nd - Dan Mulhare - 13.57

3rd Ryan McLeod - 14:02

11th - Simon Jones - 14.22

Flanders Cup, Belgium

Also racing on Saturday but in a different country was Jonny Mellor running in the Flanders Cup in Belgium. Jonny was running in the 1500m and ran 3:42.66  and said "At the time I was quite disappointed but now I've thought about it was a solid race off a slow start to the race.  I think that night at Stretford last year was just one of those nights where everything clicks into place and it all goes perfect.  Hopefully I can have another one of those tonight down at Stretford and hopefully go through a little bit quicker at 800m".

Meerbrook 15k

Andi Jones was back on the roads on Sunday 8th August racing in the Meerbrook 15k which is very tough course, Andi came second to one of RunnersLife's Ian Ladbrookes athletes, Edwin Kipkorir. Andi said "I ran a lot of it with Edwin but he broke me in the final three kilometers, it was good to get a race in after the disappointment of the European marathon Championships."
