the fun/pain begins.....

Well am back in Scotland and training after what was supposed to be a 2 week break but ended up being about 2 and a half because I got ill with a really bad cold and throat infection in the last week or so. I'm recovered from the cold but I think the sore throat is still hanging about as my heartrate was high on my sustained this week but also because I can still feel it and the coughing is still here so hopefully as I ease back into my training this will go as my immune system gets stronger.

I had a really good break, most of which I spent at home back in Aldershot. I got to see all my friends and family and even enjoyed a few nights out which up until last year was unheard of for me. I'd never been out back home so that was an experience, but a good one. I went out with one of my close friends Chloe and two of her friends which was really good. I also went out in London so that was fun. Although I dont think i'll be drinking vodka any time soon as I was struggling to drink it. To every three of my friends drinks I think I was getting through one because I was so scared of it coming back up as I could feel it sitting at the top of my throat so that wasn't a good feeling, but it was fun just relaxing and being 'normal' for a few weeks. I did however manage to crash my car on my break (not whilst drinking, this was before a night out) so that was pretty scary and my car didn't like it either as it now has a massive scratch down the drivers side where I hit the central reservation. I didnt hit anyone else as it was an empty road and was only me in the car, but it definately shakes you up a little especially when your driving.

Starting back training again has been good because I was getting bored of not running and just bumming about at home with no real routine although it has made me very sore to the point where sitting down is now a massive effort. I'm enjoying it though and cant wait to get fit so I can race on the country. I would say I dont think ive lost alot of fitness but being ill I think it wiped it out of me, so I do feel like im starting from scratch so hopefully after a few weeks I will pick it back up again and it wont take me long to get into shape, however this year is a big year for me training wise as I think we are changing a few things but also I want to make a big step up in my training partly because I missed a big chunk of high mileage last year due to my injury, so hopefully this year things will run a little smoother and I can start to make a good transition from Junior to Senior.

Also i'd just like to reply and say about the rumour that has been started by some so called reporter, that Eilish is blood doping after seeing a picture of her getting an iron infusion.... this is the most laughable thing in the whole world. Eilish has been struggling for almost 2 years now to get back to previous form due to injuries, when she started getting back things werent going aswell as they should have so she went to the doctors and received a blood test for her Iron levels. When the results came back they said she was severely anaemic -one of her levels was 4 and another was 8- both of which are well below what is considered 'healthy' for a normal woman let alone someone trying to train like Eilish is. They were even suprised she could run and train at all. She was then told she had to take iron tablets which she did but they found she wasnt absorbing it so had to go and have an infusion drip because it was that low that it could cause health issues if she didnt receive treatment. It was a massive joke going around our training group that if anything 'bad' happened to you, or something went wrong it was "because your iron was low" due to the fuss Liz had been giving us all the time about how important it was to eat properly and take iron supplements. So when Eilish got this drip she took a picture and uploaded it to Facebook saying "This is me getting my iron" which was keeping in line with the joke, she was just messing about. Then some creepy old reporter or someone jealous of her improvement (Due to her being healthy for once in the last 2years) went onto facebook and saw this picture and decided she was blood doping or something. We all just started laughing when we heard as its like shes gone from 4.40 to running 4.21 which is a standard Junior 1500m time not exactly a world lead or anything. I just think some people need to look at everything (or keep their beaks out) before they start throwing massive accusations like that about especially with the issue in Athletics what it is... and what a massive impact it can have on someones career. But in Eilishs words... at the moment her blood is made up of just alcohol and spaghetti as she has just got back off holiday... :) !!
