Brooks Last Friday 5k-Hyde Park

Racing 30hours after landing back in the UK after 15hours travelling is always going to be fun but I wanted to see how I would feel coming straight down from altitude. So I chose to do a low key 5k in Hyde Park so I could just concentrate on how I feel and not whats going on around me.

I won the race, but in a very very slow time (over 17minutes). My legs didn't feel too bad but with twice the oxygen I still couldn't breathe and I was cramping up down my right side - which I think could be the way I slept on the plane - Also i've never been so cold in all my life even though I had a long sleeve top on under my vest. I'm glad I did it though as I now know that 30hours is too close for me to race after I get back from altitude or any long travelling periods, therefore the experiment was successful and i'm going to take that from it and not focus on the time as I don't think its a true reflection of my fitness. Or I hope not anyway :D

Next race is Alsager 5 next weekend, so hopefully feel a little better there and I can find out a little more about how close I can race after returning!
