East League and National XC Relays
16-10-2010 East League Cross Country, Stirling - 1st. The course was similar to the BUCS Cross Country course in Stirling. I found it sapped your energy quite a bit as it was very uneven ground for alot of it and there were a few tough hills or bumps as someone referred to them : They were definately hills. I felt strong and felt it was just a hard sustained effort rather than racing. We raced boys and I came 4th overall. So was happy with a strong run off hard training.
23-10-2010 National XC relays, Cumbernauld - 1st Team and 2nd Fastest Leg. This week I didint feel quite so fresh, I felt tired with heavy legs. I think this is down to training so im not too worried as I know that had a backed off it probably would of been different but you dont know. The aim for me was to take the team into the lead on the last leg as Sarah had bought us back in the top 10 which was a decent run considering she had a very sore foot, which I hope gets better soon. Eilish then went off on second leg and had a really good run by bringing us back 3rd, so as Geoff Whiteman said to me at the start "its all down to you"... no pressure! So I think possibly I start a little too quick but I passed the two girls by the end of the big lap, so I could relax a little on the second lap which is where I think I lost the 15seconds between me and Elspeth Curran who got the fastest leg. It was a team event though and we ran well and won which was the aim so I have to be happy and forget about anything individual because I know im in decent shape so when it matters I wont be tired.
Well Done to everyone who raced at weekend. My next race is Scottish Road Relays at the weekend. See you there :) x
