Trainingsession 6/04/2009-12/04/2009
Monday- 1 hour with Steve from his house. Didn't feel too bad even though I raced the day before. Maria had a nice toastie waiting for me and Steve when we got back.
Tuesday- Track session with Steve and Nicholls. Meant to do 4x1 mile in 4:40, lap jog in between. Did 4:41, 4:40, 4:46, completely blew up when the pace was picked up on the third one, not good. Legs still not there after coming off break.
Wednesday- 1 hour. Legs still not feeling right. Did core afterwards.
Thursday- 35 min jog in the morning, not too bad. Meant to do a track session in th evening but Steve couldn't make it down so he gave me another run of 40 mins. Went faster than usual but the legs felt better. Did 7x15 sec strides after.
Friday- 50 mins. Feeling better.
Saturday- Session over Cannon Hill with Steve and Mark Miles, 2x2 miles, 1 mile, 3mins recovery. Did first one in 9:28 and found it tough. Got blown away in the next one and stopped after a mile, did it in 4:46. Another bad session, not looking good for the relays.
Sunday- 1 hour. Went faster than I probably should have, but still managed to stay in control and wasn't too tired.
60 mile week.

I think maybe your tempo pace is a bit quick? Try slowing it down and maybe then you could manage a full session? You might feel the benefits during the week as well, feeling fresher. Just a thought mate, keep up the good work.
BillyBob Posted on April 25th, 2009Hey Nick nice to read the journal.
Bryn Reynolds Posted on April 17th, 2009Just something to remember - you've been sick recently-n even when the symptoms go away (e.g. throwing up and feeling like crap) it has a longer term effect on the lactate threshold so everything seems harder and takes a while to recover. Earlier this season I was ill and ran very averagely and stayed running averagely for about 2-3 weeks after the symptoms had gone.
Keep up the good work and good luck for tomorrow. Oddly enough the last time we raced I think I managed to get you having just looked up some old race results! (Met league U17 races - those were the days! Ronnie was a minute behind! Unfortunately you're quite a bit quicker now
lack of form

John Stevens Posted on April 16th, 2009Why are you beating yourself up mentally?
Remember your still a youngster and new to the elite international running scene! Steve and Mark are older and more experienced runners who are bound to be faster/stronger at times. Everyone has off days/weeks. If your legs are not performing/suffering try 15 mins of progressive warm up run with a few strides- then 20 mins stretching. Repeat after session as warm down. Perhaps an ice bath and massage might be beneficial also.
Hope this help get you back on form man?
