How soon is now?
Greetings all.
First of all well done to all those people who ran fantastic times this weekend and put in great performances - Some savage running in Birmingham from the runnerslife and simmies boys as well as big Mo. Well done Dan in Irish indoors, wish I was battling it out with ya! Well done to Andy and Liam who ran in Alton Towers as well, that sounded tough!
So my foot is getting better slowly but surely, but the Smith's lyrics "How soon is now" does come to mind. I am generally not a very patient person, probably the only place I am patient is in class, but that patience can be tested as well! This impatience has to be cut out if I want to achieve my potential as a runner, I have to come back slowly and listen to my body and stop trying to be a tough man who runs on a bandy foot.

The diagnosis was a tight calf muscle (peroneus muscle) which caused my tendon to inflame and racing on it caused my foot to spasm and to have some plantar fasciitus. I have been getting treatment from my friend's Gemma and Stew. Stew wisely told me not to run Irish indoors when I saw him on Thursday night. I wanted to run because I knew the standard would be good and I would at least run a P.B. if not go under 8 minutes. With the heats on the Saturday and the final on the Sunday, I am not so sure now, but it's irrelevant. The main thing now is to get back and get ready 100% for Summer.
I am not going to put any time restriction on when I get back fully, but I am able to jog easy and I hopefully will be able to run at a higher tempo soon. With treatment and rest over this half term I should be OK.
Enjoy your running and don't take it for granted!
