New beginnings
So new year and not much has changed, training wise.
I did get a teaching job, it's 3 -4 days a week so it means my weekends will be more free for training and races (I will still work a bit in Sweatshop when they really need staff).
The school is great, the travel is the hardest bit, I am going to start to run half or all the way home in the evenings, I'm not a fan of being squashed into a train like a sardine for an hour only to go home and bang out a session. I'm so grateful that I got the job and look forward to what it has in store.

On Tuesday I met Matt Ashton by chance on St. Mary's track and decided to do the session his coach had set him, as it was similar to my own session. I was glad to have him there as I was hanging by the end of it! I cranked the 2k and a couple of the 800's a little bit too much and struggled in the 400's. It was still a decent workout and it was good to have someone else there running into the cold easterly wind with me.
Saturday I was alone again and a bit tired from a shift in the Sweatshop (the sales have made that place a bit of a war zone these days!) I managed to hit OK times, but not those set by Pat. Training doesn't always go to plan, it's all about getting it done, but being smart at the same time.
Well happy training to everybody, don't let the January blues stop you from getting on those shoes and getting out the door - that's the hardest part!
