Athleteprofile

Hey there.

My name is Rory Chesser. I am a middle distance athlete from Ennis, Ireland. I have been running seriously since the age of 17. I moved to London in April 2009 to study a PGCE in primary teaching. I run for Ennis Track Club and have joined Newham and Essex Beagles. I run anything from 800m to XC, with my best event being somewhere between 1500 and 5K, still have to figure that one out!

I love racing and pushing myself in training but also like to have a life outside of running - It's all about balance as my coach always tells me!

Well, I hope my blogs don't bore you all silly, I'll do my best to run fast to make it more interesting - Rory.

So this was it. What I had been working for all year and busting my ass on tracks up and down Europe to get to run in. Man did I enjoy it! I was a lot more nervous before this race than I have been for a long time. This was a big deal, the fact that this was a semi final instead of a heat meant it .. Read More

This was the most at ease I have felt going into a race for a long time. Man it was hot, but I felt prepared for it. We went to the line and I looked across and said "ya you guys have run 8.18, but I'm going to make you work for this". The race took off at a good pace and that was maintained throug .. Read More

Watford Open 3K

Second again! But I was pretty happy with this race. I like racing in the evening, and Watford is a beautiful track, it's also a little less windy than Bedford!   I called over to the lads after lectures and on our pre race meal of microwace pasta and wine gums we felt ready! We travelled dow .. Read More

BUCS 5000m

Raced on

I need a haircut!!!!! The BUCS championships is a good weekend of racing, although a little early! It still is a good way to open your season and give you an idea of where you are in training.   The 5000m heat was on Saturday afternoon at 4.30. I never ran a heat in a 5k before. It was all .. National 12 Stage Relays, Sutton Coldfield

This was a great win, in contrast to the dissapointment of last week in Ireland. A good first visit to Birmingham and I will have to catch a Villa game next time I'm in town. For my Irish friends, the National 12 stage is an event consisting of Long (8.5k) and short (around 5k) legs in an undulatin .. Read More

Well I am wrecked, but I said to myself I'm better off getting it down now while it's fresh in my mind. The Irish National Road Relays is a 4 leg race, consisting of a 2 mile leg, a 1 mile leg, a 3 mile leg and a 2 mile leg. All run around the same 1 mile loop in Raheny, North Dublin. There are rac .. It's been a while! After getting myself into half decent shape over the Winter, I decided to go to Monte Gordo in Potugal to get 2012 off to a good start. As with everything in life, it didn't go exactly as I had imagined it. One of the group who was travelling with myself Tom Chamney (1.45, 3.37) .. Read More

What a week! I have managed to lose my passport. So the entire week has been spent trying to get a new one in time to travel home for the Irish European Trial race next week in Sligo. Hello Runnerslife readers! It's been a while, my excuse this time is that I did not have internet in my new place. All up and running well now and I cautiously say that the same can be said for me.
