Comrades Marathon - photos
Several people have asked if I've got any photos from Comrades, so I thought I'd post some here. I was actually going to include some with my blog about the race (posted on June 28th) but I've been waiting for my 'official' photos which I only received a few days ago!
5.30am - the start of the race outside Durban City Hall. It felt more like the start of a 10K!!

Early on in the race - running comfortably in a group.

Just before halfway we passed the Wall of Honour - a concrete wall with plaques bearing the names of some of the runners from previous races.

Halfway (and taking a Shotz energy gel to give me a boost!)

The crowd support along the route was amazing, and the vuvuzelas were out in force! The spectators were all so enthusiastic and really got behind all the runners.

At the top of Polly Shortts - the last of the five 'Big Hills' and 'only' 7km left to go. Unfortunately I'm just about to be overtaken to drop to 10th position in the women's race! My legs were in a pretty bad state by this stage, though I have to say my feet weren't too bad - thanks to my trusted Mizuno Wave Precision shoes which I find really comfortable.

The finish at last, and what a sense of achievement (and relief!) to finally cross that line

Standing outside Comrades House in Pietermaritzburg - a permanent museum dedicated entirely to the race - this just shows what a prestigious event this is in South Africa.

Great work, Sue. I can't imagine what it's like to run that far. Keep on running and inspiring the rest of us.
