Road To..... Nowhere!!!
published on
Well the past 2 weeks have been a bit of a write off for me unfortunately. I've had some pain in the side of my right knee which has stopped me from doing any meaningful training and despite all the tricks - rest, heating, icing, massage, ibruprofen, etc it wasn't appearing to clear up. With all the snow and ice over the past couple of weeks my coach finally managed to arrange a physio appointment for me last Friday to try and find out what was causing the pain.
My physio diagnosed that a tight lower back combined with tightness in my gluteus medius are putting pressure on my sciatic nerves which run down the legs and attach on the outside and into the back of each knee. He's given me lots of exercises to do before a follow-up appointment next week to check on progress.
Assuming that the exercises he's recommend work then hopefully my knee will start to improve and then the next challenge will be getting back to full fitness as quickly as possible.
I'm sorry there's not much more to say than that at the moment. An extremely frustrating time for me, so fingers crossed by the time of my next blog I'll be back in full training.
Until next time...
Wicksy

Hey Phil, sorry to hear about the sciatic nerve stuff. Have had a problem with that in the past, and it can be a bugger. I found that mine went away after 5 weeks or so after some glute exercises. I wasn't that active in making it better though so I hope you have more luck!
